Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

If you like mad scientists, superhero spoofs, musicals, Joss Whedon or Doogie Howser, get yourself over to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. JB and I watched the complete 40-minute web miniseries last night and couldn't stop cracking up.

Joss Whedon (the guy who created Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Firefly series) created this low-budget, high-def mini movie-musical with a bunch of friends during the recent writer's strike. Neil Patrick Harris stars as supervillain Dr. Horrible ("He has a Ph.D in horribleness"), who is trying to get into the Evil League of Evil. The league is led by Bad Horse, the Thoroughbred of Sin.
Dr. Horrible chronicles his efforts to gain acceptance into the League (and to build his Freeze Ray) on his video blog. He's also in love with Penny (Felicia Day), a girl he met at the laundromat, who is trying to gain public support for a new homeless shelter. Soon Penny is swept of her feet (or rather, hurled into some bags of trash) by Dr. Horrible's arch-nemesis, smarmy good-guy Captain Hammer (Firefly's Nathan Fillion), who has some of the best lines. Hilarity ensues.

The show starts out a little bit slow but keeps getting better from there. Be sure to listen to the actual lyrics; they're priceless.
