Lest we get too serious on this blog, here's something purely frivolous for your Tuesday.
I was never in Girl Scouts (not really the nature-ish type...too many bugs) but for some reason I like the idea of merit badges. Have you seen the Merit Badger? She creates brilliant little badges made "from electrons and love bonded together with 100% pure maple syrup."
In other words, she designs extremely specific online badges that she generously allows you to use anywhere - to gussy up your blog or deck out your FB page or what have you. Right now she's focusing on writers and readers. Click those links for entire lists of reader/writer goodness.
Here are a few of the ones I have chosen to award myself (because one of the best parts about these badges is you get to award them to yourself):
![]() |
| Coffee shop novelist |
![]() |
| Feline Assistance |
And my favorite...
![]() |
| Grammar ninja |
P.S. The Merit Badger also created NaNoWriMo door hangers. Brilliant!
P.P.S. Clowns are the new vampire. I had no idea.
